This week I made this savoury prep-ahead snack for the whole family! Me & Ryan had it with a poached egg for breakfast - so good.

The kids loved snacking on this so I’ve made a big batch of it, sliced it up & popped it into bags for the freezer (it lasts up to 3 months in there). It’s one they can join in with making too, which is great for these rainy days stuck indoors.

An Incredible 53lbs weight loss from RWL member Hollie and how she KEPT IT OFF 🤩 

“I had been a slave to the scales for years. The number on the scale could dictate how I felt for the rest of the day. So I took a photo/video at the beginning of my journey, then photos every 2/3 weeks. The changes you could see were amazing!” 

Hollie’s 5 hacks she followed for her transformation:

1️⃣ Fail to prepare, prepare to fail: “At the end of a busy day it is so easy to go grab the first food you can instead of making a healthy decision that goes along with your goal. I planned my meals 3 to 4 days in advance & had them batch-cooked in the fridge/freezer ready to go.“

2️⃣ Lifting weights regularly - they won’t make you bulky: “I saw the most transformation in my shape when completing RWL’s Power Up Weighted programme. The amazing thing is the scales never moved but my body composition changed massively.“

3️⃣ Find the workouts you love: “Finding your favourite style of workout means even after a rubbish day, or if you feel sad or tired, you are so much more likely to still get your workout done. They are fun, I laugh, I get sweaty & 20 minutes later I feel incredible.”

Stepped on the sad steps and gained weight since Christmas? ⚖️

DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP ❌ 

Just because it might show a gain on the scales compared to a few weeks ago, that doesn’t necessarily mean an increase of body fat - to put on 1lb of fat, you need to eat approximately 3500 calories on top of your maintenance calories

If it looks like on the scales you’ve put on 5lbs over the holidays, this means you’d need to have eaten roughly 6 boxes of celebrations on top of your maintenance calories over the past couple of weeks 👀 

Instead, the scales increasing are more than likely reflecting other factors such as:
👉 Increased food intake
👉 Increased alcohol consumption
👉 Hormonal changes
👉Water retention
👉 Constipation
👉 High sodium foods

A twist on a festive classic, Lamb sausage rolls with a yoghurt dip 😍 ad

Honestly, these sausage rolls are SO good! So easy to make at home and they will go down a treat at Christmas! I’ve included the full @RWL recipe below, enjoy! ❤️

Spiced Lamb Sausage Rolls
Ingredients:

1x 320g sheet puff pastry
500g lamb mince
2 eggs
1/2 onion, grated
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chilli flakes (reduce amount if you don’t like spice)
Handful fresh coriander (alternatively you can swap for parsley)
1 tbsp nigella seeds

Yoghurt dip:
1 heaped tbsp harissa paste
100g greek yoghurt

Method: 
1. Preheat the oven and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.

2. In a bowl, combine 1 of the eggs, lamb mince, handful fresh coriander, and all the dried herbs and spices. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then combine - Its easiest to use your hands here to distribute all the herbs and spices evenly.

3. Unroll the puff pastry, and spoon the meat mixture onto one half of the pastry, leaving 1cm border along the long edge. Brush the other beaten egg along this edge, then folder the pastry over the top of the sausage meat. Seal the long edge of the pastry, pressing down using a fork.

4. Slice into 8 sausage rolls, brush with egg wash then sprinkle over the nigella seeds.

5. Bake for 25 minutes, until golden and cooked through. Then simply mix together the harissa and yoghurt to create a quick but delicious yoghurt dip. Enjoy!

WHAT IS FOOD NEUTRALITY?! 🧐

Let’s clear something up here. You will see in the nutrition space hundreds of posts promoting treating all foods neutrally, but what does it mean?

You are not going to feel the same eating a chocolate orange as you do eating an orange, and how you feel AFTER eating a whole orange compared to a whole chocolate orange might be very different too 😅

Treating foods neutrally doesn’t mean you drool over a carrot as much as a carrot cake. It means you treat them neutrally in terms of their moral value. You’re just as good a person, child, parent, sibling, friend if you eat one or the other and there is nothing to feel guilty about 💡 

Removing the guilt around food can help you stop feeling like you need to restrict certain foods, and removing the restriction can remove the urge to over eat them!

This means you won’t end up feeling bloated, lethargic and in need of a complete nutritional overhaul come January… YAY 👏 

So while you know they’re different, and offer you different things for your body and soul, you as a person remain the same. So enjoy both and own that choice!
